Today is the 16th anniversary of the Montreal Massacre. The Montreal Massacre is the worst mass murder of women in Canadian history. A lone gunman shot and killed 14 women at a Montreal university. I was going to blog more extensively about it, but Dose Newspaper actually covered the story really well as opposed to the other national newspapers who chose to ignore the National Day of Remembrance and Action. The Dose article talks about violence against women and why countries do little to stop it. To read more click here.

I went shopping this past weekend to try and get some of my Christmas list squared away. I am going to be taking an extended vacation and heading back to the West Coast to visit with family and friends. I headed to the mall with the intentions of purchasing my niece a present as well as something for my sister-in-law. And maybe, I’d get myself a pair of winter boots at Winners that my roomie recently purchased that I liked so much. I hate to copy, but winter is not a joke and I need to be prepared. However, when I got to Winners I saw the boots pictured above. I have been looking for black dress boots for awhile and they were Kenneth Cole and pretty reasonably priced. Plus, I saw another pair of winter boots that were too cute to pass up. I had officially gotten the high. I had begun shopping and I was on a roll. Usually I can’t find anything worth spending money on, but I had just spend $400 in one store and I was ready to keep going. Everything suddenely fit me perfectly and I found great things to buy. By the time I had gotten home and crashed I had spent over $800 and had bought only one Christmas present. As I surveyed my purchases I shook my head. 3 pairs of boots?? Who am I…Imelda Marcos? I gazed around at the other stuff I had bought while high off shopping and made a decision to return most of it, before I get my credit card bill.

Damn girl – you had quite the shopping spree! Funny you should post about winter boots. I have all these cute skirts but only wear them when it is warm. I’ve been telling myself I need to get some cute boots so I can wear them year round!! To the mall!!! ;)

@hapee2bnapee: it was a scary story when it happened and just sad when you think about it. shopping can be evil, but I was feeling great, while spending.

@brea: I know. A lot of it is going back, but probably not the boots. I am Imelda Marcos…I should stop denying it.

Oh my gosh, three pairs of boots in one buy. And $800.00 to boot? Care to help a brotha out with his car payment since you so rich?

@brotha buck: I am not that rich, which is why a lot of stuff went back to the stores this evening…but I kept the three pairs of boots. I am shoe whore…I can’t help it. It’s genetic.

@jacquelyn: the montreal thing was so sad. He killed the women because they got into a tough engineering program and he didn’t.

I am loving my new boots. I can’t wear high heels anymore because of shin splints from running so I am always looking for a little heel.

But black guys LOVE Lindsey HoHan. Ick.
