I went to the Wine & Food Show this weekend with two friends (Red & Miz Kiki). For this city it is definitely the place to see and be seen. Although, I would like to point out there really is not a whole lot to see in this city in terms of mens. I am just keeping it accurate for everyone out there who keeps asking why I am single. Red’s husband asks me how it is going with the mens and I tell him that it is perpetual winter. Seriously…it is a barren existence up here.

The Wine & Food Show is basically an excuse to run around a convention centre getting silly drunk and eating great food. We started out with 40 tickets. The average cost of a sample of wine is about 3 tickets although we did sample some excellent wine that were about 6 to 12 tickets. Tickets are only 50 cents each so it’s not too expensive. And we ate. We ate a lot. We had Alberta beef.

We had sushi, we had chicken fajitas, we had this amazing cheese called Cumulus. It is like a stronger tasting Brie. Yum!

The funny thing is that the city I live in is very conservative and it seems like people use this event as an excuse to go “wild”. Tons of older women attempt to dress “funky” and for some reason old, unattractive men think this is their chance to hook up with some hot young ass. Ew. I kept thinking when did it become appropriate for old men to hit on hot young women like myself? Look grandpa, you need to move it along and go find a woman your own age. You know one who remembers listening to the radio growing up just like you did. A woman who will understand all about hip replacement surgery. Although to be completely fair even the young ones were a bit annoying. Miz Kiki’s ex-boyfriend tricked me into kissing him, but that’s a story for another day.

Cheers,
Miz JJ

Look grandpa, I am not one to help you put your teeth in.

*sigh* Old men, young woman. Warped fantasy world.

But other than that seems like you had fun…alcohol and food? esp the food? I should’ve been there :-)

    @ JJ

everyone wants to be a celeb. I told them to hit another blog, that’s not what mine is for trust no one who comments on my blog would want to meet you *lol*

See you think you’re real sly…..

I like how you left that out there…I wanna hear more about Miz Kiki’s EX and how he “tricked” you dangit…

    LOL @ the old man…

Anytime I think of old men hitting on young ladies I think about cats who drive Cadillac’s and wear Stacy Adams shoes…

  3. 3 eclectik

I’ve come to find that I’m not grown enough to enjoy the pleasures of wine yet.

It still tastes like defrosted alcoholic freeze pops

    …with a bitter flavor

    Not sexy

    I enjoyied the post nonetheless!

  4. 4 aquababie

  6. 6 Miz JJ

@tenacious: It was fun besides the leering old men.

@rmack: He did trick me, by moving his head at the last second. He thinks he is funny. We think he is pathetic.

@eclectik: Lol. Wine is an acquired taste.

@aquababie: People just take it as an exucse to act “uninhibited”.

@honey-libra: the fajitas weren’t bad, but the sushi was amazing!

  7. 7 nikki

he tricked you into kissing him? yeah, he’s pathetic alright.

i heard old men know how to eat the cooch and they are patient enough to work on a sista until she’s had her fill a number of times if you get what i am saying. ;) don’t sleep on those cats.

  8. 8 T. Cas

Old men will always go after young women. That’s the nature of the beast. I know when I’m 60, I’m tryna get up with some 20 year old booty. LOL

  9. 9 Miz JJ

@nikki: I am talking old like 50 old. I am not waiting for anyone to pop some viagra.

@t.cas: Please do not let yourself become the old man in the club. There is nothing sadder than the old man in the club.

  10. 10 Blah Blah Blah

    I love wine.
    I love older men.
They are SO MUCH easier to “handle”
‘Cause you know…I am not into working hard for sheeit.

  11. 11 Unruly Brown

Dayum, I’m starting to see what you mean about the scarcity of men. I couldn’t imagine it from your other post, but this one draws a very vivid and unattractive picture. Lawd, yes, I would definitely have to move! I gotta have SELECTION!

  12. 12 Thoughts of a Southern gal

    Old men give you worms!

  13. 13 chele

Tricked you into kissing him? C’mon now!

    Ditto Southern Gal.

  14. 14 Miz JJ

@blah: Lol. I suppose I am all for older men, but I won’t date anyone older than my dad. Not happening.

@a.i.n.t: I think I am going to have to move at some point.

    @southerngal: lol!

@chele: he did!! we were doing the double kiss thing, which people do out here and he moved his face real quick so we’d kiss on the lips for a second. Honest. Lol. I’ma get Miz Kiki up in here to defend my reputation.

  16. 16 The Mistress

I’m more of a champagne person but white and blush wines are alright. Anything but red. That shit is nasty as hell.

  17. 17 Mr.Slish

    hey hey..Stop That..Old men need love too…lol

  18. 18 brooklyn babe

Couple more of those wines, and those men would of started looking way younger.

I see my shouts out are 1 way, but that’s okay.. Brooklyn can do Cananda.

  19. 19 So...Wise...Sista

    Tricked????

  20. 20 claudius_max

HEY MZ…If I may go totally off subject here but if you were in my vicinity; yeah I’d date you because I think you are sexy. How straight foward is that?

  21. 21 Miz JJ

@soli: de rien sis! glad to do it.

@the mistress: lol. i love champagne as well.

@mr slish: what about the old women? Aae you volunteering to love them if young women love the old men? uh huh…that’s what i thought.

bb: lol. wine goggles do not really work on me. damn, you called me out. i rolled through though.

@wise: he turned his head people. c’mon nobody believes me??

@max: thanks. how do you feel about moving? lol.

  24. 24 The Stiltwalker

Damn! Ok now I want some really good food, a really plush sofa chair, some really dim lighting, some really snowy outside weather, and the Mr(s); all at the same time. WHEW.

  25. 25 Miz JJ

@nosthegametoo: the food was so good. We had these crackers with smoked salmon, dill creme fraiche and cavair. They were amazing. I love good food!

@divine: thanks for swinging by. i gotta stop by your spot, but it is not work friendly. lol!

@the stilt: Unfortuntanely there were not a lot of vegan options, but there was some organic wine.
